About this live event

Do you find that the couples you work with cycle through periods of disillusionment and repair, without significant change in their dynamics? If so, then we invite you to learn about Dialogue Therapy, a time-limited method for clinicians who work with couples and adult dyads. Dialogue Therapy incorporates techniques from psychoanalysis, mindfulness, and psychodrama, and is designed to help couples and dyads negotiate conflicts and increase intimacy and emotional connection. Attending this class will enable you to learn how this innovative method may help clinicians break-through repetitive cycles of conflict in couples, while facilitating awareness of each member’s underlying dynamics. Even if you do not work with couples, you may learn insights that inform your individual work, particularly when the primary concern is the relationship with a loved one. Please note that attending this online class does not constitute training in Dialogue Therapy. In order to become a Certified Dialogue Therapist, the Foundational Training in Dialogue Therapy must be completed through the Center for Real Dialogue.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the basic principles underlying Dialogue Therapy and recognize how it differs from other methods
  • Define the concept of “projective identification” and understand its role in couples’ repetitive conflicts.
  • Identify the time-limited structure and techniques used in Dialogue Therapy.

Live event Instructor(s)

  • Rosa Maria Rigol, Ph.D.

    Rosa María Rigol, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Certified Dialogue Therapist in Miami, Florida. She offers psychoanalytic psychotherapy to individuals and Dialogue Therapy to couples and adult dyads in English and Spanish. Dr. Rigol earned her doctoral degree from Michigan State University, and completed internship and post-doctoral training at The Cambridge Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Her interests include immigration, Latina/o mental health, and relational psychoanalysis. She has been in private practice in South Florida since 2001 and specializes in the treatment of anxiety, mood disorders, and interpersonal conflict.

  • Jeanne Plo, M.Ed., MA

    Jeanne Plo, M.Ed., M.A., Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, maintains a private practice with individuals and couples in Burlington, Vermont. She is a Certified Dialogue Therapist.
